CLIENT: Financial B2B (White Labeling for client privacy)
ABOUT: This financial company offers offers financial planning and wealth management services to over a variety of clients.
CHALLENGE: Finance can be overwhelming, especially when you're dealing with massive datasets. Our client needed a way to make complex financial information digestible, actionable, and totally secure. They wanted an intuitive Financial Advisor dashboard that empowered users to make informed decisions about financial planning, content, portfolio documentation and client management.
Goal to have Financial Advisors perform majority of their workflow in this system and not have to use multiple different programs.
My Approach: Designing for Clarity & Security
I started by rethinking how financial data is presented. Instead of raw numbers, I focused on interactive charts, easy-to-read summaries, and customizable filters. Users could drill down into details when needed but weren’t bombarded with too much at once.
At the same time, security was a non-negotiable priority. We wove in multi-factor authentication, data encryption, and role-based access controls—making sure every user saw only what they needed to see.

Frustrations
Using more than 6 applications to manage their clients, meetings and tasks. The time it takes to figure out what program to open up and find what they need is not efficient
They start their day by looking at their calendar and work off of their list of to do’s written in their notes app.
Wants to out tasks “Out of their brain.” Would like to see automated tasks in the system when they log in
They have to copy and paste information which leaves room for error. There system does not automatically bring up client info inputs
NeeDs
Optimize the design to prioritize the most frequent or important tasks
They want to be able to see upcoming meetings, tasks, and manage clients all in one portal
Wants to be able to quickly prep for a client meeting by seeing when their last meeting was with the client, view past notes, with important milestones such as birthdays, etc

Prototyping & Iteration
With high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes, I fine-tuned the experience through multiple rounds of user testing. The goal? A dashboard that felt effortless to navigate, even for users who weren’t financial experts.
Challenges & Solutions
One major hurdle was balancing security with usability. Too many security measures can create friction, but too few can put sensitive information at risk. I found a sweet spot by integrating biometric authentication and contextual security prompts—keeping things locked down without making users jump through hoops.
Another challenge was information overload. To tackle this, I built a tiered structure where users could start with a high-level overview and explore details at their own pace.
The Impact
- Faster financial analysis, helping users make decisions quickly.
- Fewer unauthorized access attempts thanks to security enhancements.
- A boost in user confidence when navigating financial insights.
What I Learned & What’s Next
This project reinforced the power of clarity + security in financial UX design. By focusing on usability without compromising protection, the team and I created a solution that was both intuitive and airtight.
Going forward, these insights are shaping the way we build financial platforms—ensuring data is not just accessible, but truly actionable.
